The goals have dried up for Carlo Ancelotti's side after their blistering beginning to the season, but they will be desperate to get the New Year off to a good start as they bid to retain their Premier League title. The day's other game sees Wigan host Newcastle. The Geordies have a dismal record in away matches with the Latics and have lost all four of their Premier League matches at the DW Stadium. Roberto Martinez's side almost pulled off another victory over Newcastle in October, but they threw away a 2-0 lead at St James' Park to draw 2-2.
